Topic tags/keywords: jointer stuck maple question

hey, i joined the forum because i cant figure out why my jointer infeed table is stuck. its a delta 37-190. just picked up from a craiglist ad. it moved fine when the seller demo’d it for me. in order to transport it, i removed the jointer from the base. put it all back as it was and i was setting it up and testing it out. the only “bad” thing i did was try to do a full 1/8” cut on a 2” chunk of hard maple and bogged the motor down to a stall then it kicked back on, and came up to speed. any ideas?

There should be some gib screws on the backside of the jointer. Try and loosen them up with a hex key / allen key and adjust your table once theyre loosened. They should press against the dovetailed ways. Once you get your infeed all set to the proper height tighten those gib screws back down. They may or may not throw the table a bit out of whack so you’ve gotta play with them a little bit.

Here’s the Manual for it.

It has Pics and details on how to do all the adjustments to the infeed table starting on Page 15.
