So I went to the woodworking show here in Denver today (http://www.thewoodworkingshows.com/) and came home w/ a car load of goodies. I just moved to Denver from Minneapolis and am living in my in laws basement until we find our own place. All of my woodworking gear is stuck in a storage unit until then.

So I decided it would be a good time to pick up wordturning since I could set up a lathe and take up very little space in the in laws garage. I was planning on getting the Jet 1221VS from Home Depot because I had some gift cards. They had Jet power tools 15% off at the show though, so I picked it up there. I had been debating on the stand. In my eyes, it is not worth anywhere the $350 they ask for it. But at the same time, all my tools to make my own stand are put away and I can not use them….I was ready to bite the bullet and buy the stand. Luckily, they had it for 50% off at the woodworking show which made it an easier pill to swallow. I also picked up a Rikon slow speed grinder for $99. My worksharp and other sharpening stuff is…you guessed it…also stuck in the garage. The Rikon looks like a pretty plain jane grinder, but for $100, it will work for now.

Unfortunately, every thing had to go to the storage unit until probably this Sunday when I’ll have some time to make some space for the lathe in the garage.
