I see one for sale near me, could probably pick it up for <$80. I will probably need some rebuilding, which I think I am up for. Are these good radial arm saws?

Yes, those are nice.
My thought on those is, since there are so many of them for sale, I would pick one that is in near mint condition.
Since the age of the machine most will need arbor bearings anyway.

They are great saws. For $80 you cannot go wrong. Figure about $20 for bearings and a little more for paint and you will have a saw that will last another 60+ yrs

Delta bought the Multiplex from Red Star, who was the original manufacturer sometime in the late 50’s or early 60’s. I had a Red Star 30A and it was the smoothest radial arm I had ever used.

The radial arm shown in this video is a 40A. Same as the 30 just larger blade capacity

Well, I was able to get it for $30. I’ll be picking it up this weekend. My only concern is the column has a bit of rust, but I am hoping that is not a big deal.
