Within the last year I purchased a woodworking magazine that had a fantastic article in it about how to make wood chisels (mortise or paring I believe) from stock steel. It covered every aspect of the process from angles, heat treating, making the handle, making the brass hardware and everything else. It even had a piece of brass that was cut and filed into a Victorian stye design that rested in the handle and protruded out onto the top of the chisel for decoration. We recently moved into a new home and the magazine has been missing in action since then. I really want to make my own chisels and this article was the best source of “how to” I could find on the subject. If anyone knows of the article please let me know what publication it was in. I will pay anyone for a pdf scan of the article. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a build site for paring or mortise chisels please let me know.
