I am looking at the new 14 twelve band saw from Laguna has anyone taken a good look at this saw yet? I did download the owners manual and have read that it looks like a fine piece of equipment but before I spent this kind of money I would like to see what others have feel about it. I understand it has only been out for a few months

About 1 year ago I was looking to purchase a 14” bandsaw and looked at the Laguna 14 SUV. In my opinion, the Laguna BS is an excellent machine. The only down side was the price; top quality machines are not cheap. Ended up buying a Rikon 14” BS; it was under $1000 and has a 13” re-saw capacity.

The specs seem good and Laguna is somehow reliable. Evaluate if 1412 band saw can support your day to day sawing operation.

I just got the Laguna 14” SUV, put a resaw king blade on it , have had it about 2 months, I just resawed a 14” wide piece of 8/4 curly cherry, and its flawless, couldn’t be happier . I have resawed a ton of stuff on it, cuts like it was butter, In my opinion its the best band saw I have owned, and I have 4 in my shop as we speak…

I have had the 1412 for a couple months now, and have been quite impressed. The power has exceeded my expectation, and the precision resawing capabilities were everything that I had hoped for from Laguna. I was able to resaw 13” cherry with no problem at all, and the variance in thickness after resawing was barely measurable. And that was out of the box with virtually no tweaking. I have done a fair amount of resawing so far and I have been thrilled. One additional bonus is that changing blades is quick and painless on this saw due to the detensioning lever as well as the Laguna guides. I was considering keeping my old band saw around and keeping a thin blade on it and leaving the Laguna set up for resawing, but since it is easy to switch back and forth I am getting rid of the old saw.
