Some years ago Nicholson has moved his rasp production from USA to Latin America. Doing so, many say that the Nicholson #49 rasp has lost its revered quality, hence they ask me what I could do about this.

I am wondering if it would be worth investing in a new forging die and produce a “Liogier #49” that would have the same shape of a Nicholson #49 but with hand-stitched teeth.

If you think it would be a good idea, please let me know, for example by “liking” the corresponding post on my facebook page.

Thank you.

Noël, I don’t have Facebook, but I would bet that with the general rise in hand tool woodworking that a higher quality version of a Nicholson 49 would be well received. It’s been a tool that a lot of people have commented they wish they could still get a high quality version of.

Have your say...
