Topic tags/keywords: question

I have decided to build a wine bottle rack or storage project for my step daughter. She loves her wine. I asked her if she could save me two or three empties for a project I was working on and she said “I’ll have four for you by Wednesday!” :-)

So, with that said, here is what I have on hand to work with. There are five pieces of similar size (about 24×32 inches). The wood is the crating material my drum sander was shipped in. The good thing is it was only used once so I feel good about using it for this project. One drawback is the boards are only about 1/2 inch thick.

So, I can cut ever which way and/or dismantle the boards and reconfigure if needed.

Your thoughts and ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I’ve made a couple and a half wine racks (and am in the middle of another right now) which are posted here – they might give you a couple and a half ideas of which way to go, or which ways to avoid.

During the development of my racks I downloaded a bunch of pictures – just give the word and I’ll post them here.

One thing to be aware of is that not all wine bottles are created equal – aside from the “basic” shape there are “dumpy” ones, shaped somewhat like champagne bottles, as well as ones that taper slightly getting a little wider at the top.

Of the 1000s of images I looked at, these ones caught my eye enough that I took a copy.

Thanks for posting the pics.
I am thinking about a crate of some sort…maybe turned on it’s side…stain or no stain…prolly storage for 12 bottles or thereabouts…not sure about any of it. :-)

Some gr8 ideas here. You should be able to come up with something unique. A nice way to re-cycle that crate as well. Have fun. Look forward to seein what you come up with.

Fit with the crate wood!

Just my 2 cents worth!

Nope. Still here. We had to make a run from Houston to Tulsa, OK. Because we got word our granddaughter was in labor. Long drive 8+ hours but we made it to the hospital at 3am this morning. The baby was born about 1pm. He is our first great grandchild.

I will get back on the wine rack design next week. Wow! So many ideas, some of which I pm just not worthy of.
Caiden Bogar born today 7# 10 oz. mom and baby are doin fine. I took a pic of their whole family…mom, baby, aunt and grand parents. Me and great gramma was lurking in the shadows.
