I have a Porter Cable Model 125 3 1/4” power planer that needs a new drive belt. Have checked with PC and drive belt is no longer available. Does anyone know of a source that might have parts available? I appreciate all your help and knowledge and know someone will know of a source. Thanks a bunch.

Got a pic of the old one, maybe some measurements?

Toolpartsdirect.com can help with schematics, but the part is obsolete. You will either have to find a match from an industrial supplier of belts, or else replace the planer.

Could you offer some more info on the belt? I’ve done some pretty extensive parts hunting before. May even have one that will work.

  • A picture if you can
  • Type of belt
  • width of the belt
  • length of the belt (i assume it is broken and you can measure it flat)
  • if it is a ribbed belt / multi Vee belt, how many ribs does it have (this type of belt has grooves running the full circular length of the belt)

Failing all searches, depending on how the pulleys are installed, you could probably swap them out for Vee pulleys and get a link belt for it.

ZacD: Thanks for the info. Here is what I have for specs.
Width of belt-9/16” 7 ribs that look like “V” shaped and approx. 10 1/2” long
Tried a Bosch belt from a 3” planer but was about 1/16” too long and another planer but was about the same too short and put too much pressure on the drive axels. I appreciate everyone’s feedback. Thanks.

You’re sure it’s seven ribs and not six?
Edit: And what was the bosch belt that was 3/16” too long? Do you have a stock or model # for that belt?

I’m having no luck finding a belt under 18 inches with 7 ribs. Count them again to be sure. If it is 6 ribs, this belt will work, although a bit pricey.
