I noticed that ROGER from Aiken posted a note about getting wood from Valcruse (sp?) near Augusta but I couldn’t send a message to him yet since I am new here. Wondered if anyone might have a phone number to this place or others near Augusta that I could call before venturing out. I’m looking to find some nice pine or some hardwood to make my own bookshelfs but wood like to use use wood that is 1 inch thick instead of the standard 3/4 inch thickness. Forgive my ignorance but what does it mean when people post comments that they have 4/4 wood for sale? What does the 4/4 mean? I’ve seen other numbers as well. thanks for your patience.

Oh yes, if it’s easier, my email is Thanks much.

If you want to travel a bit, I have lots of species of hardwood in various thicknesses, but I am near Perry, GA which is about 3 hours away. I have Black walnut, red oak, white oak, sycamore, yellow poplar, chinaberry, hackberry, maple, pecan, and pine.
