Topic tags/keywords: dust collector pre-seperator thien top hat

I am having problems finding a reasonably priced 5” fittings to build the thien top hat from. Since I will be immidently reducing the inlet from 5” to 4” for the hose to connect to different tools, is there a problem with using a 4” elbow as the inlet into the top hat and a 5” outlet into the dust collector?

My Thien Top Hat has a 4” inlet and a 5” outlet (to impeller/motor). My build was a little different than some I have seen. You can see my build in my blog. http://lumberjocks.com/DIYaholic/blog/35193

Thanks kdc68!

JesseTutt,
My Thien appears to work fine. I have nothing to compare it to, so I say go for the 4” inlet!!!
