Hello, folks. A good friend and older carpenter has offered me a Disston No. 99, 12 pt crosscut saw (three medallions). Although the etch is not visible, the saw is in otherwise excellent condition. Can anyone guide me as to the value of this saw? I am unable to locate much information, recent sales, etc. Thank you.

I’m not really not sure on value, pics would help, but it all really depends how bad he wants to get rid of it… This is a great source of info on Disston Saws:

That’s definitely a pretty rare saw, and a high-end Disston at that, even without the etching it’s probably worth some coin.

A top of the line saw will set you back around $100 from Pax, $225 from LN. I wouldn’t go any higher on an offer than I could get a top of the line, fresh out of the box, new one.
