Howdy,

I dropped by Rockler tonight in Richardson Texas. They are selling red oak and poplar shorts for a $1 a unit. A unit is arbitrary and doesn’t correspond to board feet. By my calculations, most of the shorts are running about 2.10 a board foot. Most pieces are 4 feet long. The wood is double planned and one side has been jointed. I didn’t measure but they are either 3/4 or 7/8. All of it is furniture grade quality.

If it works for you, I’d jump on it before the pallet is gone. Someone might buy the whole lot. I was tempted but I don’t need that much red oak or poplar. I still got about 20 bf. Since I was one of the first, I found a few largish hunks that cost me less than 2 bf. Happy hunting.

-- Thanks for all the lessons!

Rockler is blowing out shorts again. I think I got all the Bass wood and Mahogany (except for 2 really warped pieces). Lots of nice poplar left. Less than $1 a foot.
