Hi Friends
I’ve been searching the net on how to save my gmail’s to a file but all the post I’ve tried don’t work. It’s important I send these emails to a government agency. The best solution I’ve come up with so far is to create a new Gmail account and forward the emails to that account but then the emails get out of order and I can’t place them in sequence no matter what I do. There are a total of 108 emails and responses and I don’t want to print out each one if I don’t have to. It would be great if I could just send a copy of the e-mails on a disk but then I’m not sure it would work even If I could do that.
I’m not that computer or programming savy I’m doing well just to turn my computer on :) (not quite that bad)
so I don’t know what folks are talking about when you start using many computer terms.
I’m using windows 7 and Google chrome. Any help would be very much appreciated .

Would it be any help to you to copy the text out of the email and paste it into a word processing document? You could do it in chronological order and it would also give you the opportunity to mark up areas of particular importance.

You could then email the whole document as an attachment.

Thanks Renners
I thought of that but wondered if the place I’m sending them to might think I altered the content of the emails as well.

Jim,

You can create sub-folders in gmail, and move emails to the appropriate folder
or
you can copy the text of the folder, and paste into a text file…name, and save the file (cut and paste)
you can then copy and paste each additional email (as they come in) to the same file…and save.

Jim,
I am assuming that the gmail emails are not stored in your computer. If that is the case, then you can make a new folder (say “gmaiil”) in your email software, and then you can move all the gmail emails to that folder.
I don’t know where in your computer these emails will be stored, but a search, with ‘system’ and ‘hidden’ folders enabled should find then.
Hope it helps.

Thanks Ralph I don’t have a clue how to make a new folder in my email software. I’ve been through all of the settings and I don’t see anything like that.

Jim,
In my Outlook 2003 (I know, old, but I like to get all I can from my software), the ‘new’ tab on the top opens a window with ‘folders’ as an option. Click on that and follow instructions.
Ralph.

Jim
Go to your mail account. Hover your cursor under the RED compose box. Scroll down to ‘create new label’ (blue) you may have to click on ‘more’, name it, hit create (blue). Now open your sent file and simply drag the items you want to save in this file.
I hope this is what you were looking to accomplish.
