My next ‘stretch’ to my skill set is to build Glen Huey’s Secretary. I’ve decided to build it with Birdseye Maple and to do some ‘aging’ for a little different look. I was at a friend’s shop and a woodworking neighbor of his was selling some really select woods. I picked up a 13” wide piece of Quilted Maple that is absolutely stunning. My thought was to band the quilted with birdseye and use that for the fold down desk top portion. A secondary thought was to also use the quilted in the raised panels of the two large upper doors and the small lower door at the desk top area. Then, after all of that thought, I’m thinking I’m really ruining a beautiful piece of furniture with a desire to accent wood selection. What do you all think? Thanks for any input.
