This Delta BS has been on CR for a while now. I actually saw it in person while I was at the sellers house a couple of weeks ago buying a 70 ft. length of no. 8 elec. wire. At the time the seller said she was asking $650 for the saw, which I thought was way too much, so I walked away. Is it worth $400.00 with the speed control and Baldor motor? Another thing, the add says it’s for cutting metal? Looks like a wood cutter to me. Am I out to lunch??

Thanks in advance.

That sounds like reasonable market value for the saw with speed control capabilities.

Need more info.

What model year

And the motor alone would cost you 70% of the asking price

I would grab it before someone else does. If it were closer to me, it would be in my basement already.

Way too slow for wood, but for a bandsaw converted to cut metal it’s a steal for that motor with a speed control.

^ JustJoe, is it simply a matter of converting the diameter of the belt ring thingy?

the belt ring thingy
I believe the correct technical term is ”the round thingamajig”

Yes, changing to a much much much much larger pulley on the motor end, or a much much much much much much smaller pulley on the bandsaw would do the trick. Right now the top speed is 400fpm. You want around 3,000 fpm for wood. You’ll have to look up the whole math bit but you need to go big enough to go about 7.5x faster than it is now. That might be a bigger pulley than you have room for.
