I am building two boxes. and I am looking for a piece of software that is user friendly that I can use to maximize the amount of pieces out of a 23/32 piece of plywood.

Box 1 4 sides 18 1/4×7 1/4 1 top 19×19
Box 2 4 sides 18 1/4×11 1/4 top 19×19

I would suggest Google SketchUp with the CutList plugin. Search the forums and you’ll find what you need.

I tried that SketchUp before and all I did was scratch my head and break out the old school graph paper.

Yeah, even if you’ve used CAD tools before, there is still a learning curve. I’d take a look at this site if you’re interested in learning SketchUp:

I think you’ll find SU is the preferred tool here on LJ’s but it might not be for everyone. Good luck!
