Just pulled the trigger to get this saw for a remodeling project about 30 miles from my shop and 691 Grizzly cabinet saw. My question: Is it really going to be 4HP? Says it is but I’m wondering.

4.0 HP “max”

In short, no. No way you’re gonna get enough juice for 4hp on a normal 110 circuit anway. Just like shop vacs, they probably arrived at that number by looking at the peak current during startup. Most saws in this category are closer to 1 hp. This saw says 15A, so perhaps it’s somewhere between 1-1.5hp.

Interesting design on this saw though. How is that carrying around a jobsite?

I haven’t received it yet. It will be here Friday and get a lot of use over the weekend. I’ll let you know what I think after I put it through it paces.
