I see many posts on many forums about fitting issues and a lot of the time it’s caused by crap tools. The main culprit is wood butchers(carpenters) getting into furniture(wood machining).
Toss the pencils(or scribe IN the pencil line) and layout accurately. Remember.2 by 4 means 2.000×4.000 (+- .0325). Yes. I just rendered “that there yaller tape” useless.

-- What day is it ? No matter. Ummmm What month is it ? No moron. I paid for a 2 x 6. That means Two inches by six inches. I want the rest of my wood.

I just try to use a marking knife to mark the second piece to the same dimensions of the first piece, but
trifocals and age are my excuse for not reading rulers correctly. Yes I am fully qualified to be called a wood

I try to design so that I don’t care if my first cut is off by a 1/32”, and I try to set up my cuts with stops and jigs so that my second cut is good to a thousandth.
