Ya’ll,

My day couldn’t have started off crappier. If you’ve read my profile you’ll know I’m a First Sergeant in the US Army. Normally, my job spelled backwards is “headache”... stress is my constant companion and we have a VERY close relationship. However, when it gets to the point where I have to lock my office door, ignore the phone calls , disregard the emails and set aside being the Company Dad for a few minutes I know that I can rely on all of you to take me to my “happy place” where great ideas abound and creative juices flow. Thanks for being there to help calm my frazzled nerves and keep me thinking about the sweet, sweet sound of sharpened steel on wood.

We had a CMS on our outfit that ALWAYS created problems, just by being present. Someone found this acronym and posted it. No one ruined his day. He was always too busy ruining theirs

Thanks woodenwarrior! I hope this place will help me decompress and get rid of all the anger and frustration in my life. I hit 20 years back in Aug but I think the last 10 have been the hardest or at least most stressful. You said it best “sweet, sweet sound of sharpened steel on wood.” I would only add and the smell of the sawdust.

Thanks again.

Mr Sammy,
Trust the wood. Its amazing how focusing your attention on the designing and building process can be so cathartic.

“True story” told to me by an ex-Airman, back in the ‘70s. They had this 1st Louie who used to inspect the barracks, and never had a nice word to say. Made facing movements on the freshly polished floor, leaving swirl marks, which he immediately complained about. The guys got together and cleaned one toilet stool incredibly well, then squeezed off a little creamy peanut butter into the thing. The guy walks in, sees it, and asks, “IS THAT WHAT I THINK IT IS?”. One of the enlisted men reached into the bowl, took a swipe with his finger and tasted it. “Yes, Sir!”. The 1st Louie got green and walked out.

Hope this helps you relax. After all, laughter is the best medicine. Thanks for your service, as well.

That is funny! I’ve always believed un laughing things off. I’ve just forgotten recently. Woodworking is very therapeutic and I think it helps me relax, a lot. I’m just lucky I have a good wife that puts up with me.
