Yesterday I saw on LJ’s website a Grizzly advertisement for their 17” band saw anniversary edition for $795.00.
This band-saw is gorgeous and the price is excellent..
It would seat pretty in my shop.
I should be forbidden to post such advertisement on a woodworking website.
Of course I am kidding but the temptation is almost to strong to resist.
Someone somewhere is doing a very good job tempting us.
So far I have resisted this temptation.

I hate to have to pay for shipping ( even if I know that one way or the other I always pay for, I like “shipping included” what they want is to believe is ” free shipping”) if not I would already have one on order.

Bert: Shipping or sales tax is how I look at it. Sales tax if you buy locally and shipping if you buy from Griz and have it shipped to you ( unless you live in Washington, Missouri or Pennsylvania, then you get stuck with both). It is a double plus when you can get free shipping and no sales tax. Looks like something I would really like, if I had room for 1 more stationary tool in my shop.

If you look at what it would cost to go pick it up, gas, maybe hotel, food, and convenience as opposed to it being delivered to your door, is shipping that bad? You have rationalize these things in your head…

I know and I understand the shipping has to be paid by someone one, my preference is to have it included (hidden) in the price.
My favorite system really is Amazon’s , where I pay so much a year and then all 2nd day shipping is free.

Bert, that 2 day shipping with Amazon is an awesome deal only the catch is that you have to be a prime member and I think that entails opening up a credit card account with them.

I drove to Springfield one day a few years ago with the mindset that i was going to buy a bandsaw. The one that I had picked out in the book cost just under $2000 so I was prepared. I was pleasantly surprised that Grizzley had started making the new “G” series of bandsaws which at the time were not advertised for a substantially lower price ($695). I could have bought my saw and driven home but I had all of those saved dollars burning a hole in my pocket so I ended up with a lathe, surface planer, scroll saw and a nail gun. It would have been a lot cheaper to just pay the shipping.

Blackie, I am a prime member and I do not have an Amazon credit card, in addition you get thousands of free streaming videos.

You know, the more I look at those 30th Anniversary machines…..the more I hate the stupid bear picture thats printed on the side. Looks kind of goofey. I wonder if Grizzly would sell one of the non-defaced machines for the same price?
