EDITED: Hey Refurbers, or Remodelers……Where u at?
.

Winters over! ......Yahoo! I have so many outside projects lined up!

Looks like the new guys fixed the website. NO MORE VIAGRA COMMERCIALS!.... YEA!!!

If you are a carpenter or remodeler, hanging out at LJ for the conversation – that’s cool but you can also cut and paste your posts over here too. Why not get twice the comments for the buck?

Just go to Edit mode, copy the post and paste it over here. Takes less than a minute, pictures and all.

Refurbers is where we belong. I’d like to encourage all of you to come back and re ignite this site and make it popular again.

I’d like to thank the new owners for fixing the site. If we can just get the word out:

REFURBERS IS NOW NEW AND IMPROVED!...... STOP ON BY!

20.00 gift cards to the first 100 new posters! .... no? hey, I tried.

hey Baileigh, you listening? .....we like contests too.
.
.

Welcome back Refurbers.

Original post:

Does anyone visit Home Refurbers anymore?

As a carpenter/ cabinetmaker, I feel a certain amount of guilt for not posting more at Home Refurbers.

So, this morning I went over for a Roll of the Dice and to check out the Projects page and I was very disappointed to see it has been completely taken over by spam ads.

Have they won or have “we” just given up because it’s a dead website? Personally, I thought the two websites should have been one site.

What if projects AND comments could be shared on all three sites?

It would be nice to include some of the other projects I do in my profile here but it seems like LJ is encouraging us to post those at refurbers to keep LJ more “artsy”.... which is fine.

Example: a gardener builds a wooden strawberry bin. Post it at LJ?... Refurbers? or Garden tenders? why not all three? Everyone can see it and comment. I’m not a computer geek so maybe this isn’t possible but, I know something needs to be done.

We have a good thing going here. I like to think that Refurbers and Garden Tenders are part of the family. It would be nice to see this fixed, ...if that’s possible.

Any thoughts?

Like.

Howdy Mark,

The Refurber’s site has gone to seed. Even when I was posting regularly, there were only a few folk actually posting at all. Spammer’s were always posting their junk and I about drove Debbie crazy with messages about the spammers.

This kind of decline just happens when there is a lack of interest. Folk weren’t posting. No posts meant little to no attraction for new comers. The few who were posting just starting feeling uninspired to post anything to the site. So it sits. With no new posts, no one wants to mind the shop. The spammers take root. I can’t think of a single prospective person who would want to join refurbers now. The splash page is just full of spam. They’ll take one peek and move on.

It’s either a dead site that should be dissolved or it needs to be cleaned up and pushed a bit to get the RIGHT traffic moving again.

All of your ideas sound fine and I’m sure there are a few other solutions.

I’d like to see it take root and grow on it’s own. They folk there taught me a lot of lessons and became friends. It would be nice if there were thousands of visits everyday with enthusiastic folk trading ideas, knowledge and friendship. It would be awesome to see 20 projects or more a day. It just has to reach critical mass.

How to get Critical Mass? Now that’s the question.

-- Thanks for all the lessons!

I’ve looked at it but it seems the construction methods used are totally irrelevant to someone on this side of the Atlantic.
