I just watched both videos (with a bit of fast-forwarding here and there). The two words that came to mind were “insane” and “why”. Based on my own experience with things flying off the lathe at me, I just can’t imagine spinning up a 600 lb. burl!

Great post, though. I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it.

I was very surprised he was able to keep it mounted without a tailstock to begin with (at least until it was roughed up)

I saw that a couple months ago – great stuff. I wish it had ended better. Such a waste.
