Topic tags/keywords: jointer question knives resource

I have a Delta JT160 benchtop jointer. It’s not the greatest tool in the world, but for my smaller jointing projects it’s OK. The factory blades suck though. They wear very quickly and have to be reset constantly.

Does anyone have a lead on some aftermarket knives that would replace the factory ones. All I seem to be able to find are the Delta/Porter Cable and Powertec. Is there another manufacturer that you could recommend. If I cant find something better, at least I can get the factory blades for less than $10 a set. I can also sharpen the old ones a couple of times.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Don. I’ll give them a try. Prices didn’t look bad at all. Anything has to be better than what I’ve been using. Lol. I see they even do custom work. That’ll make it easy if I need knives for one of my tool restorations.

I got my knives at Holbren. They were reasonably priced and they shipped fast.

You will need to have the knives sharpened or sharpen them yourself.

I intend to get my next set of knives there as well.

Thanks guys. I didn’t see knives for my jointer listed, but I’ll call/email them and see if thet’re available.

I went back to the Holbren site and found the machine listing and my jointer is listed there. The prices are higher, but since it seems to be the overwhelming favorite, I’m going to place an order. If they turn out to be that good, I’ll order all my knives there. Thanks all!

I’ve been there. Amazon has the same crap knives I’ve been using. I’m looking to get better quality than the factory ones. I still appreciate the suggestion though. Thanks.
