Hello all. I am planning a small watch box. The sides of the box will be plexiglass surrounded by a walnut frame. The top will be plexi only. No frame. This is a solar powered watch so the plexi will let in plenty of light to the watch. The question is what kind of latch will work best for the top? I would prefer something not too bulky looking but still sturdy. I have considered a small magnet which I think will be inconspicuous. Anyone have a suggestion?

As with most Jewelry Boxes with horizontal lids, a latch is not essential, unless it’s a locking latch.

A pair of opposing velcro dots would not be obtrusive but would hold the lid in place and not take away from your design elements.

...just a thought.

I’ve used toggle latches (the kind you find on small tool boxes) on smaller boxes I’ve made. They’re sometimes available at big box stores in the hardware section, but more choices at somewhere like rockler.
