I am starting to buy materials to finish my new shop. My new shop will be 24’ x 36’ and I need suggestions for a good quality hanging extension cord reel. I would like 3 – 4 plugs on the cord and will be mousted from the ceiling. My last one was yellow and I bought it from Lowes (dont know brand), it maybe lasted 6 months before dieing.

My son bought one for me from Sears. Heavy cord (#12) and good reel action. It’s been a good one for 10 years.

Harbor Freight has one for $79.95. It has 40’ of 14 gauge wire and a triple tap. Commercial cord reels are very expensive, costing in the $400+ range. HF also has a smaller cord reel for $39.95, but the wire gauge is only 16 gauge and 30’ long cable.

I happened to catch this one on sale for $35. Even at full price, it’s a good deal. Good quality.
