This I for any of the LJs who are thinking about making the trip to the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque: Beware of Albuquerque drivers, a they are stupid, illiterate, color blind, no depth perception, hostile, and with numerous DWI convictions (one has 27, and only gets slapped on the wrist).

As an example: Uses the exit lane and shoulders to pass. Will pass at high rate of speed to make an immediate left or right turn in front of you. Stop signs and red lights have no meaning. Goes opposite way on round-a-bouts. Do not, for any reason, look at the occupants in another vehicle or you will be shot, “He was dogging me”. When the appropriate finger is thrown at you it’s just their way of showing their single IQ status. When approaching an intersection, they will charge out in front of you.

I know there are other cities where this happens, but all I want to do is for you to be safe when you get here. For those who have never been to the Balloon Fiesta, it is the thrill of a lifetime to be able to walk out onto the field in amongst the balloons while they are filling them. Might even be asked to offer some help.

And no, I do not belong to the ABQ CofC.

Went to one of these balloon gatherings a number of years back. Helped one crew get one filled up. While we were doing that another crew dragged their basket through the parking lot….windshields do not like getting smacked by a balloon basket! They finally built up enough heat to clear the rest of the lot. I learned to park upwind of the launch area from that experience LOL!

I agree: tourons stay out of Albuquerque this year. We don’t need you causing the inevitable traffic jams on I-25, and we don’t need you, and all your overpriced boutique junk taking up seats on the train to and from Santa Fe, and we don’t need you yakking in the quiet car.

Apart from that, enjoy your stay!

JJ – I don’t what a touron is, but when they get here, I hope they blend in with all the rest of us ET’s.

Touron = tourist + moron :D

Heh – I was in Chicago once, and a guy asked me if I’d ever seen the balloons, so I asked him if he’d ever seen the Sears Tower.
