I had a post on here a while back about the poly(clear satin) I was using. Had a lot of responses and my problem came down to the humidity and using a fast drying poly. Well, the humidity has went down, so I thought I would try to finish my project; a nosing piece for a floor step down. Once again it’s what one responder said was blushing.

I completely redid the piece last time and would really like to not do it again. Is there any way I can fix this? It’s the first coat of poly, wiped on. I was going to try to wipe it down after about 10-15 minutes but couldn’t get to it. Will subsequent coats fix it or just worsen the problem? I could really use some help on this. Trying to sell my house so I need to get these pieces done and put in place asap.

I didn’t see your first post so sorry if these are repeat questions.

How old is the poly?

Is it a non gloss poly? If so did you stir very good? Any finish that isn’t gloss has a flatting agent in it, if its not mixed well this can create problems with clarity. You have to keep mixing it, if it sits for very long it can settle.

Odds are if the first coat has a clarity problem adding more to it won’t do anything to fix it.
