I thought that I would ask you folks what you think of this leg design for my wifes Jewerly cabinet on a stand.
The case will sit on a stand that will be about 34” high, and is being made in a Krenov style for my wifes birthday ( it’s a surprise). I posted the completed doors on my blog.
I’ve made a template mockup of the leg to check the design. My thoughts here are to make a leg that has a pointed ballerina type pointed ” toe” .The leg would be tapered on both sides, and the heel carved into a rounded ball on the back side of the leg.
Sorry, these pics are not great, I have to take them with my cell phone to hide the project from my wife.

I’m going to make a test leg to look at the design in full scale, here is the leg against some stock.
Please feel free to let me know what you think!

Bob,
I’ve seen this leg design before(I think). My concern is that it might not fit with a Krenov type design. That said, there in no reason to not do ” your own thing” and not concern yourself with anyone else’s ideas. I usually make a sample leg to see if I really like the design before I make all of them. Maybe you could do one from cheap stock and give us a look at the finished design? It is by the way, a very graceful leg and foot.

Does the bump go inward or outward? Its interesting. I have not seen it before. I think it would be better facing inward.

Blake, they face in, and are just an idea. I don’t remember seeing it before but I might have somewhere. Anyway, it might be a little to “whimsical” ( I hate that word). for this project but I was fooling around with some designs.
I’ll cut it out on the band saw and look at it.

I like it… the most important part with this leg, I think, is how are you going to give it depth? Is it going to have square corners all around? Or are you going to round off the curvy parts?

If you use Sketchup, you might be able to play with the model to get the right effect.

I like it!!
will you have the two ballerina legs in the front and ordinary legs on the back? Or all 4 the same?

I really like it.
