Hi. I saw some lovely lap harp/zither-type instruments that came from here. Just wondering if anyone has any for sale.

Thanks!
Kristen

You can do a search on creigs list. That should give you results.

Thanks. When I’ve gone to Craigslist they only allow you to search in one area at a time though. At least I haven’t found a way to search across the country. Is there a way you know of to do broader searches from Craiglist rather than by one city & that surrounding area at a time?

You’re probably thinking of lap or Appalachian dulcimers. Fretted zithers.

No. What I’d like is a lap-harp type instrument with 15 or more strings in a diatonic scale.

Try searchtempest. This allows you to search Craigslist with your own search parameters.

Oh, thank you. Where do I find “searchtempest”?! Is it on craiglist? On a column on the left? Or under my account? I tried searching anyway possible to search broader areas, and have never been able to before. I’ll see if I can find it. THank you! ;-)

Searchtempest is a search engine that searches classifieds and auction/shopping sites nation wide.

http://etsy.com is a good source too for handmade goods.

Thanks Loren. I’ve checked etsy. Things seem more expensive there, but not always. I’ll check again. Thanks! ;-)

I used to buy drum skins many years ago from this importer. Nice,
family-run business. I’ve met them at festivals.

Looking at the site though I think maybe they’ve raised their
prices in the internet era. They used to be the best and
cheapest source for exotic entry-level instruments.

Thanks. I’ll check it out. I like BrooksHillMusic.com and will likely get a “psaltery” from them. But I’ll check out your link.

Thank you! ;-)

Oh yeah. I did find that link before. Thanks tho. Those particular lyre-harp-plucked psalteries they sell don’t have the best reputation. I’ve talked to players who’ve tried them. They’re cheap in the eyes of the musicians.

Thanks tho! Appreciate it! ;-)

I have a 30” lap harp with 19 strings, and a set of replacement strings, plus a tuner and Learn to Play book.
I was just going to post it on Craig’s list for $225.

Thank you! I already have a 30” Celtic harp tho. I was just looking for a smaller zither-type harp. :-)

Have your say...
