Topic tags/keywords: finishing walnut modern question

Everything I’ve done so far has been low-tech (milk paint, shellac flakes, BLO, tung oil) so I need advice regarding varathanes and such. Seeking recommendations for something water resistant, durable, subtle and not requiring too many steps or any fancy equipment. Widely available would be nice too.

Thanks,
Paul

Make a wiping varnish using your favorite urethane varnish. Wipe it on, easy and fool proof. Sand w/ 320 grit between coats.

Thanks everyone! I’ll do a bit more research and go with one of these. I’m leaning towards the wiping varnish right now.

minwax wipe on poly was rated by fine woodworking as one of the most fool proof to use.
