Topic tags/keywords: miter saw plane clamp sander jigsaw auction

I posted pictures of the lumber I got for $3 at an estate auction Saturday; here is what else I walked away with. Let me know what ya’ll think…

A bunch of old cool looking keys that came in a random box I bought in a lot with some other stuff, $2; I think I’ll use these somehow in making a bunch of key racks for gifts. Some were old prison cell keys, thought that was cool.

The aforementioned lumber I got for $3

A bunch of finishing products, $10. The Helmsman is full, so I think I did alright on the lot.

An oscillating Spindle Sander, $25 (may have overpaid for this?)

Old Craftsman mitre box and saw, $3 (I think this is how I ended up with the keys)

A bunch of old hand saws and clamps (bar and wood, of which I previously had none), $20 (maybe overpaid again).

Two old planes @ $12.50 each, an old craftsman jigsaw for $5, and a sander that is pretty beat up that came with the jigsaw.

And lastly, an old vise for $5.

whitebeast88 and redSLED; glad to hear somebody else thinks
distrbd those keys look nicer than the ones I found. Maybe if I cleaned them up they would stand out like that?

..... Auctions are awesome!!! It is my opinion that you did not come close to overpaying for any of these purchases… Absolute steals all around! Way to go!

Nice that auctions in your area seem sane.

The auctions here rival some of the insane craigslist items posted here.

At auction – 15 dollars for 1/2 inch pipe clamps (Pony)

I bid (a bit) on a Grizzlly 20 inch planer 1033X that had some rust and broken cutters –
New it is 2995.

Sold for 2350 – - challenge is that the carbide inserts are 7 dollars each (yeah more than 2X the cost of Byrd cutters) and the head holds 96. So you have to buy 700 dollars in cutters and repolish the tables after spending 2350 on the unit.

Auctions here are just crazy.
