I’m planning to initially build my woodworking shop with as many used machines as possible in order to get started.

I’ve been checking the local Craig’s List for used jointers and just came across a older Craftsman 6” with an extra set of knifes that’s not too far from where I live. I haven’t seen it in person but the attached picture of it indicates it is in very good condition.

I spoke with the owner and says it needs nothing and he is firm on his price of $175.

So my question is whether it is a decent jointer and if it’s worth that much or should I look for something else?

Thank you

-- Dom

It’s a functional jointer, but is a little high IMO…..$100-$125 is common for those around here, but what else can you get for $175?

I agree. Prices run high here, but I got a used Delta jointer for less than that.

Patience will pay off.

Thanks for the quick responses. It seems pretty clear that this craftsman jointer is probably overpriced.

Additionally, I think the table at 36” is too short so I’m going to be patient and look for a better machine.

Wise choice. Another one will come up.
