I am sure there is nothing special about it, and it did not cost me anything, since I found it. I wire wheeled it a little to see what condition the metal and the wood was in. Looks like it will be a pretty good back saw. That is what it is right, a back saw?

Haha, the scavenger comes home the victor!

it is a back saw. Clean it up, Oil the handle, touch up the sharpening and you should be good to go.

I can’t imagine needing to sharpen it. I bumped it and it drew blood. I will be cleaning it up as the week goes on. My older than me rip saw came today so that is on the clean up bench too. I will be purchasing a dovetail saw new though. That should complete my hand saw buying spree.

Well, you should have. But I was really more interested in the “older than me” rip rehab.

Oh. Pics are coming. I am taking them as I go. I learned an important bit of info yesterday. If you want to keep an old saw sharp don’t knock it violently from a counter onto a concrete floor. That very sharp back saw now has some very bent teeth.

Maybe this will be my first blog post.

That pretty much goes for most tools except maybe concrete chisels
