Topic tags/keywords: yoyo turning string cheap

I want to make a few yoyos this weekend. The blanks are already glued and I have made axle stock out of apple wood. I have turned a few before that turned out great but I forgot to order string. Can I use anything I can find locally for yoyo string. My goal is to give these away on Monday and not spend 2 dollars a piece on string.

I don’t see what you couldn’t as long as it dosen’t fray or is too thick. Give it a try and test out your yoyo skills.

you may want to try at your local fabric store for blind or shutter cord, its the cord they use in Venetian blinds to open and close them. iys pretty close to yo-yo string.
