What are some of the preferred methods of doing the turquoise inlays?

I bought the InLace kit that uses the Liquid Turquoise and was intending to use it on a large cedar slab dining table.

Any suggestions for another way to do this? See it where the cracks/holes are filled with a black epoxy, then turquoise nuggets, then clear epoxy. Is this better?

I have gotten the look of turquoise by mixing epoxy with blue chalk line chalk. (from Lowe’s) Looks good in cracks in Mesquite where I used it.
