I'm turning some batons for police use and was stumped on what finish to use that will be durable and attractive. The wood is cocobolo. Thanks for the advice.

I have a night stick that my great-grandfather carried on his beat in Philly around 1910. It's probably cocobolo, finished with a natural resin varnish. It's a bit crackled, but still in good shape. He also carried brass knuckles, which my father has. He rounded out the kit with a whistle made of cow horn, and rosary beads.
