finishing help for batons

I’m turning some batons for police use and was stumped on what finish to use that will be durable and attractive. The wood is cocobolo. Thanks for the advice.

I have a night stick that my great-grandfather carried on his beat in Philly around 1910. It’s probably cocobolo, finished with a natural resin varnish. It’s a bit crackled, but still in good shape. He also carried brass knuckles, which my father has. He rounded out the kit with a whistle made of cow horn, and rosary beads.
