Topic tags/keywords: question projects gifts

This is kind of an open ended question for everyone out there:

How often do you make a project for someone other than yourself?

If your’re turning pens as Christmas gifts, or making a your spouse a gift, remodeling a room with paneling or wainscoting, or even repairing a piece of furniture for a friend, anything, I’m interested in knowing.

This can include gifts or items that you have sold.

I’m working on a woodworking related business effort that I want to start in the near future and your answers would really help with my planning and development

Thanks for the input.

I’m not sure I have done a project for me. Just about everything I have made has been for someone else. I have done a cutting board, display cases, book cases, step/bookcases, and a few other things all for LOML or our son. Some have been given as gifts, some she still has, some are in my son’s remodeled room. A few (very few) other things have been for other family members.

Best of luck on your business. I hope it works out wonderfully for you.

I honestly cannot remember the last time made something for “me”.
Maybe a jig, but other than that, it has been years. Everything is for sale, sold in advance, or given away as a gift.

Same for me. Everything other than jigs or something for the shop is for someone else. May not know who at first but, someone else gets it
