Hello all,

I am building a infant bed for my niece. I was wondering if anyone has a Carvewright or similar machine that would be willing to help me out. My niece loves Tinkerbell and I was thinking of putting a carving of this on the footboard. At first I thought what a reason to invest in a Carvewright but trying to convince the LOML after being laidoff would not be wise. So if anybody can help me please let me know. I am willing to pay for your time. The area I have to work with is 34×12.

Thank you

John

LOML…. hee hee hee.

I love abbreviations.

Please – (if you buy a carvewright) – post how the whole experience goes. I am tempted, but many people seem to have had problems.

John,
So, you’re looking for someone who has the Carvewright? I’ll check around, but not sure I know of anyone who has one. Maybe you could run a classified ad in the local paper or something. Good luck.

It would seem to me that they would wear out pretty fast since the cut in a raster fashion rather than like a real CNC would.

I have seem a lot of used ones for sale.

Personally I would take the money and get a 12” jointer and use it for the rest of my life.

CARVEWRIGHTS ARE JUNK!!! I owned one for a week then sent it back. It carved about a dozen signs, took forever to do each, and finally locked up when the hour meter read 19 hours. Our sister high school also bought one and I asked him as professional development meeting how his was going. Said basically same thing, he sent it back. His locked up at 37 minutes on the first sign. It cost me nearly $500 for that lesson in life. The wouldn’t refund the software cost since I had activated the license agreement, there was a 10% restocking fee and I was out shipping and insurance. They offered to fix it and cover all shipping costs since it was under waranty, but I said send me a new one. Otherwise I just bought a reconditioned machine for $2k when they were selling the same reconditioned ones on ebay for $1250. if they were not going to send me a new one, then refund me the $750 difference for the hassle. The biggest problem is that they are asking a “dremel” to do the job of a 1 3/4 hp porter cable router. If it was just my machine, I thought maybe I got a dud. But 2 out of 2, that not’s a dud, that is poor design. On the other hand, at one of our school craft fairs that I participated in so the shop could do a fund raiser selling adirondack chairs, there was a guy there who had good luck with his. But still 2 out of 3 duds, not good odds, especially with the amount of reconditioned ones on ebay. WARNING about buying a used one. the warranty is NON-TRANSFERRABLE regardless of who you buy it from.
