Lowes has some wood listed as “Top Choice White Wood” that is a redish/brown color. I am thinking that it is douglas fir but wanted to get someone elses take on it.

I would say that is Doug fir. Kind of pink in my description.

A picture would help. Color can run from pinkish to redish brown, with very pronounced grow rings on the end grain.

It is kind pinkish/redish/brownish sort of the color of my bathroom from the 70’s in my house.

Would it feel any heavier than other lumber?

I hate it when big box stores can’t even tell you what the wood is. They might as well label their dark furniture specials as ‘espresso wood’. Rant over.
