Topic tags/keywords: walnut lumber big slabs project ideas

I use a lot of narrow walnut around 6” but I recently wound up with around 2400 B.d. / F.t. of veneer grade walnut all 6/4 to 8/4 thick and 12” – 26” wide. All 26’ long. Live edge both sides. Very, very nice looking walnut.

I cant seem to figure out how to best utilize it. I’m not cutting it up into thin strips, it would be a shame.

Got any ideas on how to utilize these sweet slabs?

Tabletops would be my first guess. You can rip one edge on each board and double the width for larger tables.

Holy hardwood haul, Batman!

Send one my way—my wife has been wanting a new dining table :-)

BTW—any pics?

Where do you live? Where is the key to the woodshed? When is the next time you will be out of town? When you come back you will no longer have to ask.

This is like a massive rub it in your face wood gloat. You realize that, right?

It would be a gloat if it was almost free. Not quite the case, still a good deal though. No key needed its outside now, maybe I should call the insurance man? Haha. I have no idea where I’m gonna store that much wood.

I’ll get some pics when I get a chance to surface a couple so you can get a better look at the grain.

Maybe a couple slab coffee tables, I’ll have to look and see if I can find some past projects.

Tables, but at those sizes? maybe re sell them to a veneering operation?? With the live edges in those dimensions, you could just list them nationally for bar tops, and pass through counters. Mantel tops, But two live edges at 26” would make an awesome coffee table, and at 12” an awesome bar pass through CT.

Yep that’s my vote… P.S. if you need a place to store um send them here… just don’t miss a storage payment ;)

Oh, BTW even though you apparently paid for them, it still qualifies as a gloat and that means pics please!!! :)
