LJs currently accepts object codes for embedding videos. Object codes used to be the default embed code on YouTube, but now the default is iframe codes. Do LJs have plans to accept iframe codes?

P.S. I know you can still access the old object code on YouTube if you know where to look.

I’m pretty sure that iframes were working fine before but neither iframe nor object are showing for me now.

iframe:

old object code:

I’m not aware of any plans for changes.
I always send people to the “old code” for youtube

From Ricks post it looks like neither work right now for new posts. That is strange, however, since I’ve always used the iframe successfully in the past. I also checked my previous blog posts that have youtube videos embedded, and they still work…

I had to disable iframe as well as all other direct html tags due to spammer abuse. I will instead direct embed of youtube videos soon (similar to how pictures are included now).

Thanks for the update Debbie and Martin. Good luck with controlling the spammer abuse.

No offense but unless I search out teh forums I am trying and trying to figure out what I am doing wrong and it is driving me crazy… for close to 45 minutes I am trying and looking at old post etc to get my video to embed and then I finally read this thread to find out it is not anything I am not doing or doing but it has been disabled? arghhh…. Love the site but this was frustrating!

I can understand why you disabled direct use of html. This is the only forum that I have seen that allowed it.

I don’t know what software drives this forum, but can it be set up with forum tags?

These are used in simple machines and vBulletin forums and allow some function similar to html, but without the security risk of direct html.

Yep, this is 2013 and you really have to support youtube, especially as a craft oriented site.

Definitely need to figure something out for embedding youtube videos. Would like to update a blog, but don’t want have to just post a link…

I guess I never saw any of the issues with spamers abusing it, so I’m out of the loop, I guess.

Just did my first post with video. Video was the only way to show how this cabinet works. http://lumberjocks.com/projects/90713

Very very frustrating to not be able to embed.

Would be nice, especially given it’s now been over 2 months since this issue has come up…
