Some time ago I and some other Winnipeg jocks were lamenting the stiff prices of project wood. Well I have done something about it. That is, I bought more wood than I know what to do with. So I am selling some of it at the following prices. Oak is $2.25 per BF and ash is $1.75 per BF. Either message me, email at mr.barrycrowe@gmail.com call at 204-962-2020. The lumber is rough sawn.

Give us an idea of rough dimensions, and probable grade, (i.e. Clear, FAS, etc.) Thx!

Later today I will break up the pile, separate, stack and grade. Then I will take some pictures and post. Thanks for the interest.

Here are some of the pictures. I have made a table from Manitoba Ash. Two pictures are attached. I think the hardwoods that grow around here is plenty good for furniture. This Green and Greene inspired table was built from knotty and figured Ash to give it a healthy dose of rustic character with graceful lines. I maybe out to lunch on this, but I think furniture is more desirable if made from Native hardwoods rather than stock imported from wherever. Also, it’s a green practice, that is, diverting the wood from landfills, fireplaces, wood stoves and fire pits. That’s my 3.5 cents.

Barry, I am very interested in the ash if you’ve any left. I’m in Brandon but hope to be in Winnipeg (of course passing through Headingly) and would be dead keen on buying some wood at that price. Have you checked out the cherry shorts at a lumber yard who’s name escapes me right now…aggh I’ll have to look up the name of the place. They had cherry shorts < 3 bucks a bdft. I bought a bunch of it and have various furniture projects scheduled for it. Is the ask green, kiln dried or air dried?

Can I give you a call Saturday August 24 or the evening of the 23rd as I pass through Headingly?

Mark, please give me a days notice before you come thru here. All wood has been stickered and stacked for over five year, but not kiln dried. Most of the wood is 5/4 and some 8/4.
Barry.

OOops, sorry, Barry, I’m definitely in the market for some 5/4 Oak. Man, it’s been hectic around here, and I’ve been away on holidays. Perhaps once Mark has had a go at it, I’d be interested in perhaps a hundred BF or so. I’ll call once I can get a picture of what time will be available, and we’ll go from there.. Thanks for your patience!!

All the lumber is sold. I will be buying another batch or two this summer and will add a posting here once I am ready to sell some. Thanks for the business.
