Topic tags/keywords: free wood deck reclaim resource

I never thought I’d ever say it, but we got too much wood ! Free wood, at that. From our projects you all know we like to reclaim wood. Well, we found the motherlode and my front yard looks like a lumberyard now. I saw a lawn tractor store with broke down crates made of 1×3, 1×6, 2×2, 2×3, and 2×4 lumber, mostly. You can imagine how long the wood is; average is 42” to 7 ft. Several are made of untreated deck planks, 2×6, 2×9, and randomly, 2×12 lumber.

The owner was so happy with us picking up the wood that he sent his wood dumpster back, saving him over $300 a month, at least, based on the last time I priced dumpster rental. No pressure there !! We get ALLLLL the wood we want. We are averaging 3 loads a week just to keep up. So, guys, if you want wood, I suggest you all start looking to the mower guys for crates. You’ll be doing the company a favor and keep tons of good, usable lumber out of the landfills.

A good tip. I’m going to check out the various dealers this weekend. Thank you.

As long as you have a use for it, it is a good thing : ) Congrats on your score.

You’re welcome, Mark !

Dusty, yes , we have lots of uses for this wood. So far we built a new front porch measuring 6×15 ft that cost us $ 27 so far, and a few dog houses, planters, and benches. Now we are building our new wood shop. We did spring for new wood for rafters as we needed 12 ft spans there.
