Looking for a jointer by ridgid that not too expensive- curious to if anyone might have one for sale….I hear these are good jointers

The Ridgid is pretty similar to the older Grizzly 1182, Jet, Sunhill, Bridgwood, King, Craftex, and others. By expanding your scope, you’re chances of landing one improve a lot.

there are about 40 jointers in the Tenn area listed on craigslist some in KY

As with all tools, quality comes with price. I urge you not to shop by price. Take grizzlymunchin’s advise above. You are much better off buying a good used tool than a Ridgid. I have Jet planer, jointer, and dust collector. They are not “similar” to ridgid except in concept. There’s a reason I’ve never heard of Sunhill, Bridgwood, King, or Craftex. That reason is that serious woodworkers don’t have them.

If you buy second rate tools, you will be wishing you had bought a better one. Do yourself a favor and buy it the first time instead of wasting time on wannabees.

If money was no object most of us would own a shop full of Hammer,Festool products,buy once cry once but in many cases we simply try to stretch the little money we have the best we possibly can.there’s a reason I will always look for Craftex, King,Ridgid,Grizzly,etc,etc.
