MY elderly friend Fred in his eightieth year decided to splash out and buy a new saw. he bought this with nightmarish results,
Mainly a design fault with the mitre slot it has two both different sizes so anyway he sent it back and I won’t bother you with the ensuing dilema he asked and is being given his money back.I wonder if anyone (Remember Fred and I are in the uk) could recommend a nice similar saw, not exceeding say £500 ish it must have a ten inch blade and otherwise I await your kind responses and replies God Bless Alistair .

Do you have Porter Cable over there ? They make some smallish 10’’ table saws. I have a number of Porter Cable power tools and I’m very happy with them. Also, in my years of woodworking and working in some large shops, I’ve seen PC tools do well under heavy use and abuse. Never used one of their table saws but I’d expect them to be good ones.

That looks like a nice LITTLE saw…

... from the description of what he tried before, this is quite small, as I thought the other saw was quite BIG…

It must have NOT been as BIG as I thought…

Glad he’s happy now… Glad he got his money back… How much was the Frt to return the saw?

Alistair, Try Woodford woodworking machinery based in Stockport (Manchester area) check out his website
He has a variety of saws and I would say better than the bench top Fred bought.

There are some nice looking US style contractors saws with cast iron tops (and motors hanging out the back) which could fit the price bracket.

A pal of mine bought one of his cabinet saws and is very pleased with it.
