Topic tags/keywords: purpleheart maple cutting board end grain

Hey again,

My cousin asked me to make him an end grain cutting board. I showed him some pictures of some and he likes the Wood Whisperer’s design (maple and purpleheart).
I would have no problem doing it except he wants it 24×18
I was starting to sketch it out and I’m wondering, would it look abnormal being 18” wide? With that design he likes, I personally feel like it would look a tad odd being so wide.

PS. Thanks everyone who answered my last question, I’ll get a picture up of that board later when its done.

18×24 would make a nice cutting board. I’m considering that size myself.

You might be surprised how much wood it takes to make one that size.End grain is the way to go, long grain cutting boards are just silly and hard on knives!
