If you would like a catalog, a quote, or would like to talk to one of
our woodworking experts, please call or email.

The contest:

Everyone starts with the same affordable “build kit” or “list of wood.”
Everyone has one month to build something unique to win over the judges at Baileigh
Here is the build kit:
1 3/4” x 8” x 8’ pine or equivalent solid lumber (spruce, fir, etc.)
1 4’×4’ sheet of 1/2” construction plywood
Two 3 foot dowels of any diameter
6 board feet of lumber of your choosing
stain or paint of your choice
fasteners and/or adhesives of your choice
Veneer can be cut from any of the wood indicated

The contest is simple, impress us and the rest of the forum by
building something interesting using only the kit noted above

Anything goes as long as the kit is used

All entries must have a name
All woodworking techniques are welcome
All entries must be well documented with pictures and / or videos to prove authenticity

The Rules:

The contests runs from 8-1-13 to 9-1-2013
Entries close at 12:00pm CST (high noon!) on 9-1-2013
The Baileigh woodworking team will pick the winner
Winners will be notified in this thread and will have one (1) week
to respond and accept their prize. Should the chosen winner not
claim their prize, 2nd place winner will be chosen, and so on until
the prize is claimed.

If anyone has any questions regarding this contest please let us
know by asking them in this thread, sending a pm, or contacting us
direct through our website.

Thank you all and good luck!

So many questions. I’m all needing me some bandsawness. I think I’ll try my hand at a foozeball table with one set of doods each side.

That bandsaw is mine.

Wait… Is the prize a bandsaw?

This is a great idea. It is going to be really fun to see what interesting projects people come up with. There is a lot of amazing talent on the site.

I’m thinking I’m going for a Cyclone dust collector. I’ll have to chip in a little extra but the one I have now is mediocre at best. If this is anything like the last contest, it will be a challenge going up against the talent here.

“can the plywood be any non hardwood sheet good?”
To keep this contest as fair as we can, we would really like to see everyone use standard, non-hardwood construction plywood (i.e. CDX, AB, fir) UNLESS you will be painting it; then birch or equivalent could be used. Thanks!

Do you have to use every piece of the kit? Do I have to use the dowels?

“Do you have to use every piece of the kit? Do I have to use the dowels?”

No, you do not have to use all the materials. You just can’t add other materials to take their place. Thanks
