Frankenstein razee planes?

Last year at “Tools of the Trade”, probably the biggest used tool show in Canada, I picked up two of these planes, for as I remember $40. One is 16” (shown below) and the other 20” in length. Razee style wooden shipbuilding planes, bodies are extremely heavy, likely Lignum vitae. The unique thing is the aluminum handles (no markings on the handles, although I haven’t removed them to check underneath). Brass strike button on the front of the plane. No marking on the plane body.

Moulson Brothers marking on blade. Anyone ever seen one of these hybrids?

I wonder when I’ll stop being amazed at some of the vintage plane finds. They are super cool. Almost as sweet as Wayne’s Speers.
