During an impromptu stop at the Orange Big Box after lunch, I decided to take one peek at the clamp section before I left. To my surprise, I found 2 BOGO specials for the 12inch Irwin Quick Grip XP which included one of the mid-range 12 Quick Grip.

Given that the 12” clamps have been the most used for my past few projects, I thought it might be a good addition to my clamp wall. So for $50+tax, I got 2 12” Quick Grip XPs and 2 12” normal Quick Grips to add to my collection. I wanted to ask in the LJ community about your thoughts, good deal or bad deal?

I like them for when you need a “quick grip” as the name implies, but where heavy clamping is necessary i usually go for my F style clamps. They’re ideal in my opinion for clamping down a board for routing or sanding. They do work for light glue ups as well. I think they’re HIGHLY overpriced, as a 12” jorgenson F style is roughly $13.

I have a couple, but prefer to buy my clamps from Jorgensen as they still make some of there products here in the USA. As far as I know, all the Irwin clamps come from China.
HD also pissed me off by dropping Jorgensen here at my local store and replacing them with Irwins.
