Only the tool suppliers who stock it seem go charge a fortune.

Whereas holistic hippie alternative medicine places sell it for cheaper.

Is there anything special about camellia oil for hand tools??

I buy mine at the local asian market. Its WAY cheaper than Rockler or any of the other woodworking supply paces. I suspect they just charge more.

well that’s given me the courage to pick up a £1.99 anti-aging oil off eBay!

I’ll try it when it arrives and let you all know whether it makes any difference – who knows, it might even take years off my tatty old 1980’s Record Jack…..

It is really effective against rust. I use light Singer oil and it wasn’t that effective.

I use Camelia oil on my planes and chisels, but prefer Johnson’s paste wax on large cast iron tools.
I do have a Stanley #92 SW that seems to rust very badly with anything other than paste wax, and a lot of it.

There is a seller on ebay that sells choji oil, good stuff.

Don’t know what it is exactly but it works very well. Cheaper than most retailers here want for the same damn stuff.

There are others on ebay as well.
